Studies have long suggested that ocean life could be impacted by drugs dumped into the seas by smugglers.

A study from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation have found evidence that sharks are impacted.

Scientists dissected 13 wild Brazilian sharpnose sharks that were bought from small fishing vessels.

The species is said to spend its life in coastal waters and are more likely to be affected by drug pollution.

All of the sharks tested positive for cocaine with a concentration of as much as 100 times higher than previously reported.
