JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu says officers have demonstrated that crime-fighting efforts are bearing fruit following a massive drug bust at a Johannesburg residential complex.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) found drugs worth an estimated R300 million at the property in Fourways on Wednesday night.
Multiple arrests were also made during a raid in connection with the kidnapping of a businessman in Roodepoort in July.
“Minister Mchunu commended the SAPS for their professionalism, collaboration and effective use of intelligence in this complex and dangerous mission,” said police ministry spokesperson Kamogelo Mogotsi.
“The minister also reiterated the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the use of cutting-edge technology in combating crime.”
