CAPE TOWN - The ANC has defended itself against verbal attacks by the South African Communist Party (SACP) after the SACP took exception to a decision to include the da in the Government of National Unity (GNU).
African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) member Joe Maswanganyi said the ANC hadn’t sold out the tripartite alliance by joining forces with the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the GNU.
Maswanganyi was addressing the SACP’s 103rd anniversary in Cape Town on Sunday.

SCATHING CRITICISM CONTINUES
Addressing the party’s anniversary celebrations in Khayelitsha, SACP general secretary Solly Mapaila said the ANC was cosying up with what he called "white monopoly capital".
But Maswanganyi was quick to defend the party, saying it was in an alliance with nine other parties.
"The GNU is not a sellout approach. We are not in alliance with the DA," said Maswanganyi.
The ANC and SACP did agree on one thing at the anniversary - that the National Health Insurance Act should be signed into law as a matter of urgency.
