Lester Kiewit speaks to former England striker-turned-television-pundit and Sunbet Ambassador Michael Owen.

The English Premier League (EPL) 24/25 season officially kicks off on Saturday, 17 August 2024.

It will run for nine months and conclude on 25 May 2025.

There will be no winter break in 2024-25, with the season starting a week later than the 2023-24 campaign, which kicked off on 11 August.

Will Manchester United's luck change? Owen doesn't think so.

He blames behind-the-scenes management and 'all kinds of new appointments in the background' for Man United's woes.

"I'm going to give you some bad news, I'm afraid. My opinion is that it could be another long season for Manchester United fans... there's been lots of injuries... key members being out for months which is disappointing because it affects maximum performance."
- Michael Owen, Former England striker
"... new season, new hope? I don't see any reason why MU should be any different to how they played last season."
- Michael Owen, Former England striker

Will Manchester City become the first side in history to win five straight league titles?

Owen doesn't think so.

Owen predicts that Man City will drop several positions this season with Aston Villa among the sides to finish ahead of City.

Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to be among the challengers, while the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham hope to get back into contention.
