26 August 2024 | 6:27After 25 years of involvement with the club, the rumour mill is rife with speculation of the goalkeeper's retirement.
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune appears to be at a crossroads with his field career.
Sunday World reports the 36-year-old will no longer be on the pitch but in the marketing department instead.
This after new coach Nasreddine Nabi left Khune out of the travelling squad for the pre-season camp in Turkey.
Khune's contract also expired with no news of any renewals.
Chiefs however signed a new goalkeeper in Fiacre Ntwari.
“Itu has been at Chiefs for more than 20 years and he is now part of the family. He is very close with club bosses, the Motaung family and he served the club with distinction,” an insider for the club said.
Khune has spent 25 years at Kaizer Chiefs, five as a development player and 20 as a first-team player.
