Strauss & Co in Cape Town is currently hosting its September Auction Week, featuring a series of five meticulously curated sales showcasing modern and contemporary art.

This diverse collection includes everything from paintings and photography to ceramics and furniture.

Among the featured artists are renowned names such as ceramicist Hylton Nel, and painters Alexis Preller, Esther Mahlangu, Pierneef, and Irma Stern.

A highlight of the auction is a remarkable painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff, the celebrated Russian-born artist who passed away in 2006.

Titled Balinese Girl, this striking masterpiece captures the allure of Eastern beauty through vibrant colours and evocative imagery.

The portrait of a young Balinese woman, whose gaze reveals both intrigue and timeless elegance, exemplifies Tretchikoff's exploration of diverse cultural identities.

This exceptional piece is anticipated to sell for between R5 million and R7 million.
