World Teachers' Day has been celebrated all over the globe for the past three decades.
It’s a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)-recognised initiative to honour teachers and highlight the importance of their role in education.
While educators globally are facing a myriad of challenges, the day aims to remind them that the work they are doing does not go unnoticed.
On Friday, UNESCO held an awards ceremony in Paris and a panel discussion where teachers from all over the globe shared their insights and experiences.
UNESCO said the discussions were held to emphasise the importance of teachers’ participation in decision-making processes and the need to create a dignified and respected teaching profession.
