JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's annual consumer price inflation (CPI) figure has cooled for a fourth consecutive month.

It eased to 3.8% in September from 4.4% in August.

Chief director of price statistics, Patrick Kelly: "Softer transport inflation, specifically lower fuel prices, dragged the headline rate lower. Fuel prices dropped for a fourth successive month and are on average 9% lower than a year ago."
