Good news for consumers as CPI figure eases for 4th straight month

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's annual consumer price inflation (CPI) figure has cooled for a fourth consecutive month.
It eased to 3.8% in September from 4.4% in August.
Statistics South Africa said that this was the lowest inflation print since March 2021, when the rate was 3.2%.
Chief director of price statistics, Patrick Kelly: "Softer transport inflation, specifically lower fuel prices, dragged the headline rate lower. Fuel prices dropped for a fourth successive month and are on average 9% lower than a year ago."
Annual consumer price #inflation cooled for a fourth consecutive month, easing to 3,8% in September from 4,4% in August. This is the lowest inflation print since March 2021, when the rate was 3,2%.
