Gauteng cops kill 2 in shootout with suspected robbers

CAPE TOWN - Two suspects have been shot and killed in a shootout with police on R59 road at Kliprivier in Gauteng on Thursday afternoon.
A police officer has also been wounded in the incident.
Gauteng police say they were responding to a tip-off about suspects on their way to commit a robbery in Sedibeng.
When approached the gunmen allegedly fired at the police who then retaliated.
Provincial police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says one suspect managed to escape on foot.
"One firearm was recovered on the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle used by the suspects is reported stolen at Alexandra in October 2024."
