Robert Marawa chats to Orlando Pirates head coach, Jose Riveiro.
With over 100 games under his belt, Riveiro has made a lasting impression on the Buccaneers.
He has led them to five trophies and guided them into the CAF Champions League.
The team has also had a stellar start to the season, remaining undefeated in seven league games.
He says there has been a shift in the group's mentality and an increased level of confidence.
“Everybody around is running an extra mile this season to keep growing as a team, to keep writing a good history about ourselves and so far everything is coming together in the first part of the season… This is just the beginning, we want much more obviously.”
– Jose Riveiro, head coach – Orlando Pirates
Reveiro's contract expires in June 2025 and there is uncertainty about his future at the club.
While there has been talk of a possible extension, Riveiro remains focused on the task at hand – winning.
He is eyeing the PSL trophy, the only trophy he has yet to win.
“For me, it is the most important in every country… It’s the place where you test yourself week in and week out.”
– Jose Riveiro, head coach – Orlando Pirates
“…we are just at the beginning of the season, there’s a lot of things to do from our side, there is a lot of emotions coming and competitions where we can still do a good job… the focus is on adding more games to that number and also adding more trophies.”
– Jose Riveiro, head coach – Orlando Pirates
