The deadline to upgrade prepaid electricity meters has been extended.
This is specifically to accommodate zero buyers and customers who have struggled with re-coding their meters.

Mbhele says the extension will be for this week and they will use this time to ensure everyone is compliant.

Mbhele says a technical breakthrough allowed them to extend this deadline, which was previously a ‘hard deadline.’
Customers will be required to buy electricity tokens by Saturday for their meters to be compliant.
