CAPE TOWN - Eskom said the country continues to reap the rewards of its investment in the generation recovery plan, which has seen load shedding remaining suspended for more than eight months.
South Africans have had uninterrupted power supply for 247 days now, since 26 March 2024.
The power utility attributes its improvements to the coal-fired fleet.

Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, said because of much-needed efforts in improving electricity supply, the power utility has saved more than R17 billion.
“These improvements are contributing to economic growth and energy security. The recovery plan has resulted in year-on-year diesel savings of R17.37 billion, approximately 71.9% less than the R24.15 billion spent during the same period last year.
"Diesel usage remains below the year-to-date budget. Over the past week, the average total unplanned outages have dropped to 10,612 megawatts, a significant improvement from the 15,671 megawatts recorded during the same period last year."
