JOHANNESBURG – KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Premier Thami Ntuli is calling for the collaboration of communities and law enforcement to foster a safer environment for women and children.
This follows the tragic murder of Nontobeko Cele by her partner, Sbusiso Lawrence, who later committed suicide after posting a confession video on social media.
Ntuli said it was concerning that the incident occurred after the nation’s launch of the 16 Days of No Violence against Women and Children campaign.

The premier emphasised the need to address the root causes of gender-based violence (GBV) and systematic failures.
Spokesperson, Bongani Gina: "We want to encourage men to speak out and seek help when faced with situations that trigger anger or emotional distress. Addressing these emotions constructively is key to preventing violence and fostering healthier relationships. Seeking support is not a sign of weakness but a courageous step toward personal growth and building a safer, more compassionate society."
