Johannesburg’s power system is under enormous pressure at the moment.
City Power is urging residents to use electricity sparingly and has warned that load reduction may have to be reintroduced.

A recent storm, vandalism and cable theft have exacerbated power issues.
Mangena adds that rain has made it challenging to fix power outages.
“The underground tunnels get flooded when we have this kind of rain.”

Northcliff is one of the areas that has been affected, and residents are becoming extremely frustrated.
Mangena says teams are hard at work to restore power to affected areas.
