CAPE TOWN - As the festive season winds down, the police ministry said it would continue to maintain high visibility across the country.
On Tuesday, deputy police ministers, Cassel Mathale and Polly Boshielo, led a crime prevention imbizo in Atlantis on Cape Town's West Coast.
The town is one of the areas affected by high crime levels in the Western Cape.

Acting national police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili, said that while gains had been made to fight crime in the Cape, more still needed to be done.
"We are well aware of the gun and gang violence in the communities that continue to be a worrying trend to the police who police this area."
Mosikili said their festive season operations had yielded positive results.
"In the last week, members of the Anti-Gang Unit here in the Western Cape arrested a 35-year-old man after they found him in possession of a prohibited AK-47 assault rifle and ammunition."
