JOHANNESBURG - Limpopo government officials are on Sunday expected to provide an update on the abduction and sexual assault of two nurses at a clinic near Lebowakgomo.
The healthcare workers were reportedly on night shift duty at Ga-Chuene clinic last Friday when they were attacked and kidnapped by an armed suspect.
While the clinic was scheduled to reopen on Tuesday (January 14th), the Provincial Health Department has decided to keep it closed to ensure the safety and well-being of both staff and the community.
"The incident has sparked public outrage on the extent of the scourge of violence meted out against women in the province, particularly within the health and the professional sectors," said provincial police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba.
