The party has come out in support of drivers who are demanding an end to the impounding of their vehicles and faster processing of operating permits.
JOHANNESBURG -The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng said that e-hailing regulations were straining the province's economy.
The party has come out in support of drivers who are demanding an end to the impounding of their vehicles and faster processing of operating permits.
E-hailing drivers also claim that the current regulations are hindering their ability to earn a living.
EFF spokesperson Dumisani Baleni said that the e-hailing industry contributed to the employment of thousands of drivers and stimulates economic activity.
Baleni, however, explained that the current regulations were choking this industry, leading to loss of revenue and missed economic opportunities.
"We also urge the e-hailing community to remain resolute on their case, while the TMPD has a legal mandate to enforce by-laws it must do so with fairness and consideration for the socio-economic realities faced by our people."
