CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku has praised the arrest of 18 undocumented foreign nationals in Woodstock.
This followed several reports of muggings involving pedestrians and cyclists at Lower Church Street.
In a recent incident, cyclists were robbed and assaulted in the area on Saturday.
Sileku said it's a big win for cycle safety in the metro.
“I am pleased with the latest development following integrated law enforcement operation at the Woodstock cycling route and N1. This route has been plagued with criminal activities putting our cycling community at risk. These arrests reinforce our commitment to ensuring safer travel."
The 18 suspects are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday.
