JOHANNESBURG - The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) has guaranteed a safe and secure State of the Nation Address (SONA).
President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver his State of the Nation Address on Thursday evening.
NATJOINTS said it had been working behind the scenes, meeting with stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and incident-free SONA.
National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, said they had implemented a range of security measures, including road closures, increased police visibility, and airspace restrictions.
"We have mobilised the necessary resources to increase police visibility to prevent and combat opportunistic crimes, before, during and after the address."
City of Cape Town traffic services also issued a road closure advisory to residents and businesses near the Cape Town City Hall.
"We urge unaccredited or unauthorised individuals to avoid the area around the city hall. Any lawlessness, criminality or behaviour that contravenes the law will be dealt with accordingly," said Mathe.
Final preparations are underway at the Cape Town City Hall for the State of the Nation Address.
