JOHANNESBURG - The Emfuleni Municipality has given Rand Water the green light to start pumping and supplying water to its affected systems.
The municipality said it had completed repairs to Rand Water's Vereeniging treatment works following a power failure.
This affected the Eikenhof and Forest Hill systems, leading to interrupted water supply in households, businesses, health facilities, and schools for three days.
Rand Water said its reservoirs were depleted because of the power outage.
Residents have been urged to reduce consumption due to the rapid decline in storage levels.
