JOHANNESBURG - City Power has warned of disruptions to power supply in many areas of the city due to the rain.
The entity said heavy showers had damaged infrastructure in parts of Johannesburg which have also affected the East Rand.
Kensington, Fairview, Malvern and Troyeville are among the areas affected.
City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, said that the conditions could affect the entity’s ability to respond to outage calls.
"We opened the day with over 2,600 logged calls, with the majority emanating from the inner city power outage where two lines from Sebenza substation tripped in the early hours of the morning, effectively affecting power supply to most of the eastern corridor. We, in the interim, encourage customers to reduce electricity consumption to avoid overloading the network and causing further outages."
