JOHANNESBURG - The Limpopo police services has launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly raped and stole from a group of female students at a residence at Tlharihani TVET college.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect was carrying a firearm when he entered the residence in Bolobedu, Mopani district over the weekend.
It’s understood the eight students were instructed to strip and four of them were allegedly raped while the others were forced to watch.
Provincial police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said a case of business robbery and four counts of rape has been registered.
"After the rape ordeal, a Samsung A04 cellphone and Nokia C10 were robbed. Then the suspect left the scene on foot. A case of business robbery and four counts of rape were registered for further investigation. Anyone with information leading to the arrest of this armed rapist, Detective Constable Dzumisani Mhlongo of Tzaneen FCS can be contacted."
