Operations at the University of Fort Hare’s Alice campus remain suspended as student organisations take the institution to court over an eviction order.
University management shut down the main campus in the Eastern Cape earlier this week following a tense standoff between police and students.
Frustrated students protested over what they have called "a governance crisis and poor living conditions".

Two buildings were torched in the protest.
The damage is estimated at R500 million.
An eviction notice was issued on Thursday, demanding that students clear out the residences amid the indefinite shutdown.
Former SRC president, Aphelele Khalakahla, said the Eastern Cape High Court is expected to hear their application to interdict the eviction order on Friday.
