Ekurhuleni EFF slams IFP as attention-seeking after it withdrew its no-confidence motion against Speaker Tshivhenga

JOHANNESBURG - The Economics Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Ekurhuleni has described the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) as an attention-seeking party for withdrawing its motion of no confidence against the metro's council Speaker.

Nthabiseng Tshivhenga was set to face a no-confidence vote on Thursday, but the IFP decided against it before it was due to be tabled.

The IFP said it wanted more time to negotiate with political parties to support their motion.

The EFF's Nkulelko Dunga said the IFP was using council resources to settle political scores.

"It would be wrong for one to table such a motion on the basis that they are looking for attention. We are not going to gag or stop political organisations from politicking or seeking attention like the IFP has declared now."
