JOHANNESBURG - Operating hours at the Johan Heyns Community Health Centre in Emfuleni Local Municipality will be reduced from 24 hours to 9.
This change comes as the facility undergoes renovations as part of the provincial Health Department’s plans to convert it into a district hospital.
The renovations are expected to be completed by 2028.
Spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said while some services will be transferred to nearby hospitals, the centre will continue to treat chronic patients.
“Operating hours of the facility will change from 24 hours to [9 hours]. It will start operating from seven, and close at four in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday. So, we're just urging the public to bear with us because there will be a limit in terms of certain services being limited and others being diverted to other facilities nearby.”
