US embassy in SA moves to set up processes to help Afrikaners seeking to take up asylum offer

JOHANNESBURG - The United States' embassy in South Africa has moved to set up processes to assist Afrikaners experiencing an alleged genocide in the country.
In an update posted on social media app X on Tuesday afternoon, the mission made available platforms for those seeking additional inquiries and information about the offer.
This follows US President Donald Trump's executive orders in February, which relied on fake news to offer asylum to Afrikaners.

The US mission in South Africa, despite several assurances that there was simply no genocide taking place in this country, is pressing ahead, offering assistance to those considering taking up asylum in the States.
Its refugee admissions programme is free and available to those it claims have been facing unjust and racial discrimination in South Africa.
The US has been at odds with several countries as it aims to put America first.
Its also objected to South Africa's attempts to address the long-standing land question.
Meanwhile, South Africa's government has remained committed to engaging and clarifying the US on the false claims.
