JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority (BMA) said operations have resumed at the Grobler’s Bridge and Stockpoort ports of entry with Botswana following temporary suspensions due to heavy rains that caused flooding.
Officials said water levels at Grobler’s Bridge have completely subsided, with the ground sufficiently dry to support the weight of cargo trucks passing through the port.
Operations at that port will resume on Thursday afternoon, while operations at the Stockpoort port are already underway.
However, port operations at the Bray port are expected to resume over the weekend due to persistent rains in the area flooding the Molopo River.
"Port Management Committee has conducted a thorough inspection of key operational areas and is satisfied with the current conditions. As a result, Grobler’s Bridge Port of Entry will officially resume operations today from 14h00. Meanwhile, operations at Stockpoort Port of Entry have already resumed this week,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Mmemme Mogotsi.
