Planned march expected to cause traffic disruptions in Joburg CBD

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg motorists are advised to consider alternative routes or prepare for potential delays amid expected traffic disruptions in the city’s CBD on Thursday.
There is a planned march by the Umphakathi Wesizwe organisation.
One thousand demonstrators are expected to gather at Mary Fitzgerald Square and will hand over a memorandum at the mayor’s office.
"Motorists are advised that the following roads will be affected by the march: Lillian Ngoyi Street, Ntemi Piliso Street, and Steimens Street,” said the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD)’s Xolani Fihla.
“JMPD officers will be deployed to monitor the march along the affected and surrounding roads to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of all road users."
