JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng traffic police are warning road users of traffic disruptions due to protest action taking place for victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Soweto.
The demonstration comes amid an ongoing case of a 7-year-old girl who was raped, allegedly at a school in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape.
The case has highlighted a slew of other cases involving the rape of minors countrywide.
Traffic police spokesperson Obed Sibasa said the march would disrupt several roads in the area, including Uncle Tom's Hall in Orlando, Lesedi Clinic in Diepkloof, Crossroads White City, and Molapo Petersberg.
"Protestors, marchers will gather at above-mentioned locations and proceed to Chris Hani Thokoza Park in Rockville. The following routes will be affected: Khumalo, Chris Hani as you move from Uncle Toms' Hall, Chris Hani as you move from Lesedi Clinic to the destination Koma Road to Chris Hani as you move from Jabulani Mall BP from Thokoza Park, marchers will proceed to Moroka Police Station."
