JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said wet conditions are expected to persist throughout the remainder of the Easter weekend.
A yellow level 1 warning has been issued for possible thundershowers in parts of the Northern Cape, with the potential for localised flooding.
This comes as officials nationwide urge travellers to be extra cautious, with slippery roads posing an increased risk of accidents.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela has advised residents in affected areas, particularly motorists, to stay alert and follow all safety advisories.
"There is a possibility of a yellow level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms that might be expected over the central and the southern parts of Northern Cape.
"Remember, with severe thunderstorms, we're expecting heavy downpours that might lead to localised flooding, a possibility of damaging winds, as well as excessive lightning, and a possibility of hail."
