Provincial transport department spokesperson Unathi Binqose said the arrests helped tackle one of the leading causes of road crashes and fatalities.
"Our drunk driving operations are beginning to bear fruit, as we are seeing a significant decline in the number of crashes and the number of fatalities on roads and an increase in the number of those arrested for drunk driving."
Binqose has also urged motorists to remain vigilant and responsible as traffic volumes increase on the province’s roads.
