JOHANNESBURG - The Senzo Meyiwa trial has stalled once again in the Pretoria High Court as one of the lawyers is still not ready to proceed.
The cross-examination of the investigating officer was expected to continue on Tuesday but that’s been halted.
Five men are being tried for the football star’s 2014 murder at the home of his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo.
Delays are nothing new in the Senzo Meyiwa trial, in fact, they have become expected and Tuesday was no different.
The matter convened for advocate Charles Mnisi to tell the court whether he was ready to proceed with the cross-examination of the investigating officer on behalf of his second client, Muzi Sibiya.
Instead, he brought an affidavit petitioning the court.
Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng granted Mnisi yet another postponement, this time until 5 May.
This will be for the advocate to give a report on his progress in reading over 40,000 pages of evidence.
Mnisi said that he should be ready to proceed two weeks later on 19 May.
