JOHANNESBURG - The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) government says disaster teams will remain on high alert throughout the night following heavy rains in Durban.
One person has been confirmed dead, with several rushed to the hospital with various injuries.
Parts of Durban have been battered by heavy rains since this morning, leading to localised flooding in some areas.
The SA Weather Service has issued an alert level four warning of harsh weather for the city and its surrounding areas.
KZN Spokesperson for Human Settlements, Ndabezinhle Sibiya, said, “We have a cut-off low-pressure system which is bringing in prolonged rainfall and cold weather. We are requesting motorists to exercise caution, and we are also working with other spheres of government to ensure that we respond with a high sense of urgency to assist the affected communities.”
