A Bishop Lavis resident was there and voiced her anger about the lack of service delivery in her area.
"I am very unhappy with the tariffs that they want to increase. At the moment, there are people without electricity since Monday in Bishop Lavis. Every Saturday, we don't have water in Bishop Lavis, it's a slow trickle... we can't do our washing, we can't run our households. Where is the service? There is no service delivery in Bishop Lavis."
A resident from Tokai said that the new budget was bad news for most people.
"I have a problem with the way the city is positioning this budget as a 'Budget of Hope'. Go walk through Tsunami and Samora Machel now, there are children who are putting tyres in the streets to walk over sewerage but on top of that, I don’t know about you, my salary is not going up by 27% but that’s what my rates is."
