EFF call on Tshwane to enforce law by closing whites-only Kleinfontein settlement

JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) is calling on the City of Tshwane to enforce the law by closing down the whites-only community in the east of the capital.
Thousands of the party’s supporters are protesting at the Kleinfontein settlement on Friday, demonstrating against what it calls a community stuck in the apartheid era.

Kleinfontein is home to more than 600 households, located on a 900-hectare privately owned piece of land.
However, only Afrikaner people who identify with the Christian faith are allowed to live there.
It’s far from an ordinary day in Kleinfontein, as the Afrikaner community is surrounded by thousands of angry EFF supporters.
The Pretoria High Court declared this community illegal, primarily because the land is zoned for agricultural use, not residential.
The community’s exclusivity to Afrikaner people also contributed to the court’s ruling.
EFF MP Carl Niehaus said that Friday’s protest seek to highlight that the community continues to exclude non-Afrikaners, despite its illegal status.
"It’s not about the so-called cultural self-determination. It’s about whites who refuse to be part of a truly non-racial, united South Africa. It’s about whites who continue to hanker back to the old apartheid system."
While the EFF said Friday’s protest would be peaceful, it has asked not be provoked.
Kleinfontein was declared illegal by the Pretoria High Court, yet it remains a community exclusively for Afrikaner people.
