Over 111k livestock vaccinated for foot-and-mouth disease in North West

The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development says 111,297 livestock have been vaccinated for the foot and mouth disease outbreak in the province, to date.
190 cases have been recorded affecting a majority of cattle, while pigs accounted for 3 cases and goats one case.

The department said its vaccination campaign was accelerated by the doses received from Turkey, with another consignment expected soon.
"We have received a second consignment of 50,000 doses of the Dolvet vaccine. It's already started to be disbursed. Up to this fa,r we have vaccinated a total of 111 thousand animals and vaccination of the current existing doses will be finished by Tuesday or Wednesday next week," said Director of Veterinary Services in the North West province Langa Madyibi.
