More than 300 EMPD officers served with pre-dismissal notices over illegal strike

JOHANNESBURG - More than 300 Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) officers are at risk of losing their jobs after they were served with pre-dismissal notices.
 
The action follows a strike in March when the officers blocked several major routes in Ekurhuleni.
 
The officers were frustrated over salary adjustments, overtime compensation, and also calling for improved working conditions.
 
The city said that disciplinary action had now been taken against those who took part in the illegal strike.
