JOHANNESBURG - The City of Ekurhuleni estimates that power supply to the Kempton Park CBD and surrounding areas will be restored at 6 pm on Wednesday.
This comes as the city’s technicians continue to work on restoring power after it was interrupted due to cable theft that plunged parts of Kempton Park into darkness on Tuesday.
The metro said Eskom’s stage 2 loadshedding has had an interruptive effect on the work done by its technicians.
Stage 2 power cuts were implemented on Tuesday, with Eskom saying this would continue until Thursday.
Meanwhile, in northern Johannesburg, power supply has been restored in Rosebank, Dunkeld, Parkwood, Hyde Park and surrounding areas, after a power trip occurred on Tuesday night, post load shedding.
City Power said the outage was caused by low levels of sulphur hexafluoride gas oil from the Rosebank substation.
It added that the gas plays a critical role in insulating high-voltage circuit breakers and preventing short circuits or flashovers in the switchgear.
