JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has said a key pillar to stabilising the country's economy rests with forging better diplomatic relationships across the African continent.

Speaking in his capacity as ANC president, Ramaphosa addressed Northern Cape party members during their provincial executive committee induction at the Mittah Seperepere international convention centre in Kimberly on Friday.

Earlier this week Ramaphosa attended the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan, Côte D'ivoire, where CEO's, heads of states and ministers from around the continent met to highlight the role of the private sector in the development of the continent.

Ramaphosa said forging closer ties with African counterparts and other countries remains the ANC's number one priority.

"How we can raise our economic fortunes but also how we can ensure we improve relations with our various sister countries on the continent but also beyond," said Ramaphosa.
