CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape and parts of the Northern Cape are set to experience strong interior winds and strong gale-force coastal winds this coming week.
A cold front is expected to land on Monday over the southern parts of the country and continuing through to Wednesday.
SA Weather Service forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela said that by Tuesday, heavy rains would begin to affect the Namakwa district in the Northern and Eastern Cape.
"Two cold frontal systems are expected to develop early next week, the 19th to the 23rd of May 2025, with a high likelihood of disrupting the current rainless and incident-free mild to warm weather conditions that has been prevailing for some days."
He added that rainfall is expected to range between 15mm to 25mm, with a possibility of reaching 30mm to 50mm in mountainous areas.
"In addition, freezing levels are expected to drop considerably, creating conditions favourable for some snowfall over the high-lying areas and a general drop in temperatures. These very cold conditions are expected to spread to the central and the eastern parts of the country from Tuesday late evening, persisting until Friday morning."
