JOHANNESBURG - Fleurhof residents are accusing police of dragging their feet in making arrests following the death of 11-year-old Jayden Lee Meek.

Angry community members staged a protest on Saturday, marching to the Florida police station to hand over a memorandum demanding urgent action and better policing in the area.

Community leader Lori Richards said, “We demand more patrol vehicles be allocated to our area without delay. Additionally, we insist that Fleurhof be formally designated a policing sector or two given its size and density. The current policing model does not reflect the realities on the ground, and communities are suffering as a result.”
