JOHANNESBURG - Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, is still recovering from a major global outage that struck on Thursday.
Users worldwide have been left frustrated after being met with repeated “refresh” messages, with many unable to log in, send direct messages, or access basic functions.
At the peak of the outage, tracking site Down Detector recorded more than 2,500 problem reports, affecting both mobile and desktop users.
While most services have since been restored, the platform has not yet returned to full functionality.
X’s official engineering account said the disruption was caused by a data centre outage.
