DURBAN - Police in KwaZulu-Natal said they've shot and killed the main suspect in the Olorato Mongale murder case.
Officers found him hiding at a residential complex in Amanzimtoti in the early hours of Friday morning.
Two people believed to be his parents were arrested on Thursday night for helping him evade arrest.
His father is the owner of a white VW Polo, which was allegedly used in the crime.
Mongale was found dead on Sunday in Lombardy West, Johannesburg, a day after she had gone on a date with a man she had recently met at a mall in Bloemfontein.
She was picked up from her home in a white VW Polo with a cloned registration plate.
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is at the scene as authorities shut down the area and swoop in on more suspects linked to the case.

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe has confirmed the shooting and said a full briefing will follow soon.
"When police announced their arrival, he shot at the police and they returned fire, fatally wounding him. We are still searching for his accomplices, and we are urging them to hand themselves over at the nearest police station.”
The deadly standoff marks a major breakthrough in a case that’s left the country reeling but the hunt continues for more men believed to be involved.
