ANC suffered great loss after deaths of Shope & Mnganga-Gcabashe, says Ramaphosa

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa said the African National Congress (ANC) has suffered a great loss following the deaths of two prominent women leaders in quick succession.
He made the remarks at the funeral of former ANC Women’s League president Gertrude Shope in Johannesburg on Saturday.
The 99-year-old died last week.

Her passing followed that of the Women’s League’s deputy president, Lungi Mnganga-Gcabashe.
Ramaphosa told party members that the women represented izintsika pillars, which have now fallen.
“Yet even amidst our grief, we must and do take comfort in the legacies that they’ve left behind, for they have left enormous legacies, left a lot we can remember them with, a lot we can remember them from.”
