Mzansi Ballet’s ‘Carmen’ returns to the Pieter Toerien Theatre at Montecasino this month.
The passionate and thrilling production is a bold reimagining of a classic tale.
It tells the powerful story of love, jealousy, and betrayal set to the iconic music of Georges Bizet.
“We did it during the Christmas season, and it was exceptionally popular, but so many of our supporters were on holiday. We decided that we could bring it back and restage it.”
– Dirk Badenhorst, Director – Mzansi Ballet
Mzansi Ballet choreographer Angela Revie works alongside Spanish choreographer José Manuel Buzón Ruiz and Bafana Binde from the Vyndal Pantsula Group.
“[Pantsula] is such a big part of our South African fibre… yet we are not giving them the credence that they deserve for incredible artistry that they display.”
– Dirk Badenhorst, Director – Mzansi Ballet
