JOHANNESBURG - Some residents in high-lying areas in the City of Ekurhuleni may face at least two more weeks of water supply interruptions due to maintenance work by Rand Water.
The utility began a two-month maintenance operation on infrastructure across metros in the province last week.
The city says some of its reservoir storage levels have dropped following the work.
Although supply has been restored to several areas in the metro, some communities will see a staggered return of supply in the coming weeks.
Areas including Kemption Park, Germiston, Daveyton, Tsakani and Kwathema have had water interruptions since last week when the utility began its maintenance work.
In a statement released by Rand Water, the utility specified that there will be routine maintenance at different stations to improve the reliability of supply.
The city says it has dispatched water tankers to all affected areas.
