The South African Weather Service has increased the alert level from 2 to 4.

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management is on high alert monitoring for any impacts that Saturday's inclement weather could cause.   

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has increased the rainfall advisory from level 2 to level 4.

The Disaster Risk Management Centre is urging the public to be vigilant this weekend and to act proactively to mitigate damage to their property.  

Spokesperson Charlotte Powell said residents should ensure that drains and waterways are cleared of obstructions to avoid flooding.  

“Thus far, no significant impacts have been reported to the Disaster Operations Centre, although this situation might change as the day progresses.”
