Frustrated Meadowlands residents take to the streets over ongoing power outages

JOHANNESBURG - Frustrated residents in Meadowlands, Soweto, have taken to the streets over ongoing power outages in the area.

Reverend Frederick Modise Drive has been barricaded off to traffic, with law enforcement on the ground monitoring the situation.

While the road remains closed, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) said the situation is calm.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla has called for motorists to exercise caution when approaching the area and to use alternative routes where possible.
