JOHANNESBURG - The man accused of murdering 14-year-old Likhona Fose claims he has been mistreated behind bars.

Thirty-year-old Mduduzi Mnisi was taken in for questioning on Monday, before later being arrested for the crime.

Through his lawyer, Asanda Qwabe, Mnisi has complained about not having a bed or blanket when he was at Krugersdorp prison.

He appeared before the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Wednesday, facing a charge for the premeditated murder of the teen.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will assist in uncovering the accused’s profile.

It was revealed in court that Mnisi has faced a prior conviction of attempted murder and robbery for crimes committed in 2007.

The NPA says profiling Mnisi will reveal whether or not he has any pending cases to present in court next week to oppose his bail application.

The parolee, who appeared visibly calm while smiling at cameras in court, was allegedly spotted with Fose a day before her body was found mutilated, not far from her home.

The matter will return to court next Wednesday for a formal bail application.
