Democratic Alliance (DA) Chairperson of the Federal Council Helen Zille confirmed this week that she was approached and is willing to run for Joburg Mayor in the local government elections.

"I think she's playing games. She leaves many of the people in her party quite jittery."

If Zille is serious, says Madia, it says a lot about the DA leadership.
"It's an indictment on the leadership having someone like Helen Zille, at the age of 74, wanting to run. It suggests that there's no leadership, there's no potential, and there's no one capable."

"These people forget that since 2016 the DA has had a hand in running all of Gauteng's major metros... and if you look at the DA in Tshwane, there have been corruption allegations that saw successive DA mayors losing their positions."
